In the whole kerfuffle over WordPress “search engine spam,” there’s some interesting lessons about what some people are trying to do with auto-content-creation and AdSense, and where some of the lines are drawn.

Well its a good thing that Google recognizes human mistakes at times. I feel that with WP having a PR of 8 and that they are back that it was a simple fix. Thanks Google for making a good judgment cll on this one.

I really don’t think they did anything wrong at all. The white hat SEO purists are too uptight.
I don’t have a problem with WP supporting itself but the cloaking is not appropriate. BTW: that Hot Nacho software looks pretty interesting.

I found this quite intresting and a bit of a lesson on what could be done with the right software / knowledge. My take on “cloaking” is that if it HELPS a user, find you, for a relevant search term, then so be it, it is helping the visitor as well as the search engine.

People are doing the same thing as WP and Nacho all over the place and Google doesn’t mind a bit. It’s only because this was high profile that Google did anything about it. It’s all about public relations.

I’m glad to hear the positive feedback re WordPress as I’m about to start using it.
This is the natural result of competition. As long as the playing field is level, why the fuss? Google allows purchasing and leasing of links so that the searcher is really getting another paid search in the organics and not just content relevance.
