Corey Rudl Dies in Race Track Crash

Yesterday, internet marketer Corey Rudl died while racing at the California Speedway in Fontana. Link to LA Times story and NBC.

It’s hard to believe this tragic news. My wife and I had the chance to hang out with Corey and his then fiance, Tracy, in New York a couple of years ago. They were a great couple and had just gotten married last year.

After becoming one of the best-known internet marketers, Corey was enjoying life and spending time doing what he loved to do — racing cars.

One of Corey’s first products on the internet was replacement Ferrari emblems for owners who had theirs stolen. From his internet marketing success, Corey was able to afford expensive sports cars himself, as well as the time to enjoy them.

At 34 years old, he was enjoying life — he had a wonderful wife, a new house in La Jolla and the freedom to do as he pleased.

Many of the current internet marketers were inspired by Corey, and he will be missed by many.

Very sad news.

That is very sad. I can’t imagine that many people making money on the internet today who have not been influenced by Corey in some shape or form.

I first came across him in early 2000 when I bought his Car Secrets ebook.

A successful young man struck down whilst enjoying the fruits of his endeavors and living the American Dream is the most dramatic of footnotes. I’m sure that this tragedy reminds everyone to live today as though it is your last.

Condolences to Corey’s wife and family.

Very sad, heard about it just today. It didn’t make the mainstream news of course. But I suppose at least he lived life to the fullest and died while doing something he truly loved doing. Risks inherent with race-car driving are generally recognized by their drivers.

We will all miss him. I always liked his style and the amount of effort he put into anything he did. I guess we all aspire to do the things we want, like Cory did. To have people that care for us. To contribute to making other peoples lives better. My deepest sympathy to his family.

    Hi Everyone,

This story really stopped me in my tracks. You see, it was this time last year that I began my search for an internet business.

I knew nothing about the web and I started my search by ordering Corey Rudl’s course in june of 2004.

His course was very helpful in bringing the website into focus. In fact it would be fair for me to say that in this very month last year Corey Rudl’s course gave motivation to our initial brainstorming website sessions.

My sincere hope is that Corey took the time prior to this horrible tragedy to really ponder, evaluate, and invest in the eternal security and destination of his soul; which now will be determined by GOD.

My Prayers are with his wife, loved ones, and business associates that are going to continue on his behalf.

Very sad indeed. However, he was doing something he enjoyed most. I never met Corey but I have been a subscriber of his newsletter for a little over a year now. His family and friends are in our prayers.

  17. June 5th, 2005 | 5:09 pm

I was stunned reading this post. It’s so surreal. The first sentence stopped me and I thought maybe he means something else and continued to read hoping it wasn’t so. I’m a subscriber to his newsletter also. Makes you stop and realize what’s really important.

  18. June 5th, 2005 | 5:26 pm

Corey’s website was the first time I ever saw a LONG sales letter on the internet and I already had a couple websites up since 1997. I bought his internet marketing course – my first internet marketing course. I don’t use that type of sales leter on any of my websites, but his materials introduced me to much of the workings of the internet that I much appreciated. He influenced many and will be missed.

My condolences to Corey’s wife and family

  19. June 5th, 2005 | 7:45 pm

I agree with all the previous posts. Corey gave away his knowledge without being afraid of losing a sale. He knew that if he showed you a way to better yourself or your business, you would trust the products he sold. One of the neat things about the Internet is that for the most part, people are very communal and not afraid to share their thoughts and know how. Corey seemed to be one of these people and he will be missed.

Corey’s name has become synonymous with the term Internet Marketing … and leaves behind a legacy that will be long remembered by us all.

I’ve followed Corey Rudl, and his IMC, for over 7 years … his influence on me continuous from the start.

I’m honestly still quite shocked. :(

God bless him, and my condolences to his loved ones.

Corey was indeed a pioneer in this industry. I had recently purchased a video series from him, and he seemed so full of life. Man, what a fast talker, lol. One good thing is his system will continue to produce for his family, even without him. Thats something we should all keep in mind as we struggle to achieve our own successes.

  25. June 7th, 2005 | 12:32 am

It’s events like like this that make me stop and take note of what is important around me such as my wife and daughter. If we get so caught up in our jobs, businesses or even ourselves and forget the most important thing (family) then what have we really accomplished?

I am certainly as guilty as the next person in that respect and it’s too bad tragedies such as this is what it takes some times for many of us to realize just how fragile life is and to never take what it has to offer for granted.

I will say a prayer for Cory’s family and can only hope that the time they did have together will always be remembered and charished.

Corey’s tragic accident was very sad news. He was definitely one of my inspirations. I feel terrible for his family and friends.

Lately, I have come to think about how I need to be more careful this summer on my long trips into the office – I can’t wait for my Internet initiatives to get me off the highway, so I can travel the “INformation Super HIghway”, more often.

It seems some very important people to me have or will pass away this year… Corey… the Pope.. and my father who is not expected to make it thru the year. :(

For a guy I didn’t know personally, this news hit me hard. Corey had what most of us aspire to. Money, recognition, respect, freedom to do what he wanted to do with his time, etc. To have it all taken away so young is a tragedy

He will be surely missed by his family, friends and customers.

I am so sad… Corey and I were good friends in vancouver and attenteded race driving schools and drove on the track together for several years. We lived in the same building for about 4 years and my fiancee was one of the first 4 employees and turned into his director of operations for IMC. He was such a kind, warm person. Corey I feel so sad for tracy and your family, all of your employees who were so loyal, I am so happy for having had your friendship and song number 2 shall always make me remember you…

The world has lost one of the truly “good guys”.

I’d met Corey on a couple of occasions in the days before he started IMC, back in the “coupon days” in Ottawa on a social basis. Even then you knew that “the kid’ll go far” – and he didn’t disappoint. Even back then, he came across as one of those guys whose name you’ll never forget, and you knew it would be associated with something simply incredible.

My heart goes out to his family, colleagues, and friends. I’d only met him a few times, but it felt like being hit in the stomach with a sledgehammer – I can only imagine how it’s impacted his family and closest friends and colleagues. I’m glad that through them, and what he’s accomplished this far, his legacy will live on for a long time to come.
