I couldn’t make it to SES this year. The thing I missed the most was the annual Google Dance.

Free flowing beer, live music, karoake and arcade games all bundled together inside the Googleplex. Could it possibly get better than this?

For 2,000 Web Designers, Consultants, and SEO Gurus it was better, they were actually in the Googleplex “interrogating” the Google Coders. Wired covers the event, but don’t think for a second Google is going to give away the “secret sauce” recipe!

I’m really starting to wish there were more hours in the day. For example, Matthew Lewis sent me an email with this great tidbit about the relative size of the Google and Yahoo indices vis-a-vis their claims about the size of their indices.

Watching my Trackbacks and Yooter makes a good point. What I’ve said for a long time — Google could shut down a lot of the click fraud in a hurry if they’d quit paying all the spam sites that display AdSense.

For that matter, they could stop a lot of blog spam if they’d just delist any site that was doing it. One full-time person, it seems to me, could permanently delist an awful lot of domains. If they shared a blacklist with Yahoo and MSN, the world would be a better place.

Is that too naive?

Jason Cain, Goldblogger and Hooters fan extraordinaire, (broken image, unfortunately) posted today about a present at the recent DefCon 13, a leading conference for hackers.

Right after a segment entitled “Credit Cards: Everything You Have Ever Wanted to Know,” StankDawg gave his presentation called, “Hacking Google AdWords” which included gems like “Click the hell out of ads of sites you don’t like (using proxies and/or scripts). You can see a copy of his powerpoint here.

As Jason says, the word is out. To me, it seems that click fraud is going to get worse before it gets better.
