John Reese Defends Himself (and Internet Marketing)
Today, John Reese took a couple bloggers to task, including one who writes for Mashable. (disclosure: John is a friend of mine)
If you’d like to hear the perspective of someone who is both a good human and a great marketer, you can read his reply to these guys. Calling John an “e-book salesman” is kind of like calling Tiger Woods a duffer.

Good point Brad. John adds value to the marketplace and over delivers. But alas nothing like a little controversy to stir the internet marketing pot. Thx 4 your 2 cents.

Brad,
Well actually Tiger may be a duffer for a while
Just kidding. Seems like a little controversy once in a while stirs the old internet marketing pot. Sometimes for good, sometimes not. I am continually amazed at the line that divides folks who want the web to be both free and marketing free — and the entrepreneurs who harness the space, add value to the marketplace, over deliver and expand the value of the marketing dollar. Can’t we just all get along?
Thanks for the space to put in my 2 cents.

I agree. It is true that there are hoards of ebook salesmen who provide the basis for negative stereotyping of internet marketers. However, lumping John Reese in with them is extremely unfair. John is one of the few internet marketers who constantly strives to provide real value to his customers and will often sacrifice early profits to reap even greater rewards through future reciprocity. I hope he does not let the negativity of a few keep him from continuing to help so many people who could benefit from his knowledge.
Just to echo the remarks of a previous post, that being, lumping John Reese in with ebook salesmen, is unfair…simply put, it’s character assassination. John Reese is an Internet Marketer who operates with the highest integrity and is totally committed to the success of his students AND non-students alike, with the high quality content that he provides. If you want a real education around driving traffic and all its nuances, John Reese will lead you to the Promise Land.
Amazing to see that the points being pressed against John were easily dismissible. I loved the graph showing how the blog site received more traffice that mashable over the last 2 years.
The ending was fantastic! The web will grow and strengthen by others generating revenue from honest business pratices. Sure nebulous individuals will take advantage of people. However, on the honest will survive in the long run.

I think John lost some of his high reputation and expertise (I can’t find the right words to express it…) through even answering such stupid blog post… There are people who have problems with making money…or with people who make money…or with people who are more clever than themselves…and there are even some communists out there
… My point is: you can’t respond to every freak that is out there. And if you do, you sort of come closer to his level which is below yours.
Example: If I (or you) wrote a blog post which said that Tiger Woods is a duffer, would he respond to that? I don’t think so. He would think: “Yeah, whatever, let the children talk while I stay on top.”
Have a nice day.
He worked really hard on his post, so I won’t say anything too bad about it. I haven’t completely read the other side of the story, but judging by the title, I get a glimmer of what its about - internet marketers using social bookmarking sites to gain traffic and result in $$$ (dollars). This is old news, and has been talked about by Internet Marketers for over a year. Jack Humphrey has really gotten on the bandwagon for profiting from the traffic, but most importantly, his main course is on *getting* the traffic - not so much what you do with it…
I think John can’t offer proof of anything by having people look at his twitter history… Marketers can still “talk” about using social bookmarking, without doing a marketing campaign… and even if he did, why test with his own, regular account, and run the risk of losing it? Personally, I’d setup a test account to test with, and write up the results for the eBook, later.
Anyway, the as mentioned in my cable provider disclaimer, my Internet service is for entertainment purposes only and no one will be held liable for anything… so I can’t take anything on the Internet too seriously, eh? Who cares if marketers use social bookmarking sites to make $$$ - everyone should be doing it! So lets get out there and get busy!
Okay, let me qualify my last paragraph… my Internet service is for entertainment purposes, but subject to the Terms of Use agreement and federal and state laws…. of course… I don’t think there’s going to be a federal case soon about marketer’s using Twitter for their purposes…
Yeah,
Or Seabiscuit was just like my lil pony… right!

John Reese is a god and im pleased he didnt bit his tongue when it came to responding to that mashable garbage.
I am an Internet marketer and I sell ebooks and that’s great! The more I sell the richer I get.
I’m sorry, I just don’t get it! Where is the problem?
Alex
I have viewed many of John’s articles and can say that the quality and marketing ability he has is matchless. Certainly not a duffer Brad.

I am working towards getting $397 put together from my marketing efforts to put the course to the test. I am really excited because everything I have received from him has been spot-on. For example, creating software that tracks things…brilliant paradigm shift and explains why previous ventures of mine flopped.
